• In Hebrew, her first name ‘Gal’ means “wave” and her surname ‘Gadot’ means “riverbanks,” which combines to form the meaning “Wave of Riverbanks.”

• Her parents changed their surname from “Greenstein” to “Gadot” before her birth.

• Her father is a sixth-generation Sabra, which refers to someone born in Israel.

• Her maternal grandparents were born in the 1900s. Her grandfather was imprisoned in the Auschwitz concentration camp in Poland during World War II. While he survived Holocaust, the killing of six million Jewish people by Nazi Germany, her grandmother left Europe before the World War II started.

I returned home more mature and cried with my grandfather about that, coming a full circle from his childhood to mine.”

• Gal initially worked at a local Burger King and also did babysitting.

  Something happened from the first moment we started talking. When we got home, I was like, ‘Is this too early to call you? I want to have a date.'”

• In 2007, Gal, at the age of 21, took part in a photoshoot for the magazine ‘Maxim’ titled ‘Women of the Israel Defense Forces.’ Later, she was featured on the cover of the New York Post.

  I feel so much better now. When you feel strong, it changes everything — your posture, the way you walk. I look at photos from five years ago and think, ‘Whoa, I was too skinny. It’s not cool.”

• Gal was chosen to be honoured with a Hollywood Walk of Fame (class of 2024) by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce on 26 June 2023. This recognition made her the first individual of Israeli descent to receive such an honour.

• In October 2023, Gadot joined over 700 Hollywood professionals and signed a letter condemning Hamas during the  Israel–Hamas war. In the letter, they supported Israel and demanded the release of hostages in Gaza.
