- Harmanpreet Singh is the captain of Indian Men’s field hockey.
- During his childhood, he would often help his father on the farm before going to school.
- He would often drive a tractor on the farm. In an interview, he talked about the difficulty of using the rusty gear stick of the tractor which he believes helped him build the muscular strength required in the drag flicks.
- He trained at the Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) in Ludhiana for 3 years before getting selected for the Olympian Surjit Singh Hockey Academy in Jalandhar, Punjab when he was in class 10.
- There, he got the opportunity to learn from penalty corner specialists, Gaganpreet Singh and Sukhjeet Singh.
- While in the academy, he would often grab the hockey sticks of players who would leave them after their game to play under the lights.
- He was bought for $51,000 by the Dabang Mumbai team in the Hockey India League in 2015.
