Controversies | Allegations of ill-treating a civil servant In August 2018, the transport secretary of the Delhi government Varsha Joshi accused the Transport Minister Kailash Gahlot of misbehaving with her. She claimed that the minister had humiliated her in front of 30 juniors in the meeting. Later, a statement was issued by the forum of the transport department association in which they demanded an apology from the minister for misbehaving with the bureaucrat. [1]The Hindu Summoned by ED Gahlot was involved in the framing and implementation of the now-scrapped Delhi excise policy 2021-22 due to which he was summoned by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in the money laundering case. However, he failed to appear citing a busy Delhi assembly sessions schedule. The ED accused him of giving refuge to Vijay Nair, who was one of the arrested accused in the case, at his official residence in Civil Lines. He later dismissed ED's claims and said in an interview, “I have always said that though the official house in Civil Lines is allotted to my name, I do not stay there. We live at our private residence in Vasant Vihar because my children’s school is closer to that place." [2]The Times Of India |
