• After completing his formal education, Lokesh M worked as a dentist for some time.

• He cleared his civil services examination in 2005.

• On 3 June 2006, he started his Second Phase Training of Assistant Magistrate and Collector in Aligarh. He completed his training on 10 August 2007.

• On 10 August 2007, he was appointed as Joint Magistrate and Collector of Saharanpur. He served in the position till 4 May 2008.

• From 5 May 2008 to 26 May 2008, Lokesh M worked as Chief Development Officer in Prayagraj.

• He was designated as District Magistrate and Collector of Kaushambi on 27 May 2009. He served in the position till 20 February 2011.

• On 21 February 2011, he was appointed as District Magistrate and Collector of Amroha. He worked in the position till 9 September 2011.

• He served as District Magistrate and Collector of Ghazipur from 12 September 2011 to 17 April 2012.

• In October 2022, Lokesh M participated in the Indian Handicraft Fair in Noida, where he discussed various topics, including the need for special designers for exporters and the development of wood clusters.

• From 31 May 2023 to 9 June 2023, he served as Divisional Commissioner in Kanpur Nagar.

• He was appointed as Divisional Commissioner and Labour Commissioner of Kanpur Nagar on 31 May 2023. He served in the position till 19 July 2023.

• On 19 July 2023, Lokesh M was appointed as the Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Metro Rail Corporation in Gautam Buddh Nagar.

• On 19 January 2026, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath ordered an SIT investigation into an incident that happened on 16 January 2025 and removed Lokesh M from his position and put him on the waiting list.

• In the incident, on 16 January 2026, a man named Yuvraj Mehta was returning from Gurugram to his home at Tata Eureka Park in Sector 150, Noida.

• In the dense fog, Yuvraj did not see a basement excavation pit for a building project, which had rainwater and no barricades, reflectors, or warning signs.

• His car fell into the pit. Reportedly, the police received the complaint around 12:15 a.m.

• The rescue teams of the police, the fire department, SDRF, and NDRF helped with the rescue the next morning.

• An eyewitness and deliveryman, Mohinder, saw the whole scene and claimed in the media that the rescue took too long, and the quick action might have saved Yuvraj.

• Reportedly, the rescuers waited to rescue Yuvraj on the night of the incident because of the cold water and iron rods in the pit.

• The police investigations revealed that Yuvraj called his father from the sinking car and said,
  

  Papa, Save Me.”

• However, the help came too late. Yuvraj Mehta’s post-mortem showed that he drowned first, then had asphyxia and cardiac arrest.

• His family blamed MJ Wish Town Planners Limited and Lotus Green Construction for not applying the safety rules.
