  • Maheep Singh started his journey of standup comedy at the age of forty.
  • Maheep Singh started going to attend Cafe Rati events at India Habitat Centre but could not muster the courage to step on stage.
  • He got encouraged after seeing an upcoming fellow comic, Apoorv Gupta. That was also his introduction to stand-up comedy.
  • He performed for the first time in Greater Kailash at Raghav Mandava’s stand-up comedy gig.
  • After his first few performances, he got connected with the Delhi comedians circuit and was being called to perform.
  • In his college years, he was part of his college’s theatre group but due to personal circumstances, he had to drop it after college.
  • Before being a comedian he worked as a Copyeditor at Aptara from 1999 to 2003 and as a freelance translator from 1991 to 2010.

  • Maheep Singh dislikes motivational speakers, as he believes they promote unrealistic goals and dreams. Instead, he created a comedy set as a demotivational speaker.

  • His father used to own a publishing house, he tried to run it for 10 years after completing college.
  • He had a tough time with math in 7th grade because he couldn’t grasp the importance of algebra. When he asked his teacher why algebra mattered, the teacher gently inquired about his future aspirations. Upon hearing his dream of becoming a tabla player, the teacher punished him.
  • He took a break from stand-up because his mother was ill, fearing he would come home one day to find her dead alone without him being there for her.
  • He has had the honour of performing for the royal family of Kuwait, and the High Commissioner of India personally requested his performance through a formal letter.
