• Meg Lanning is an Australian cricketer who has captained them to win many World Cups. She has set many records for Australia during the course of her career. She is regarded as one of the best women players of all time.

• She started playing cricket at Warrawee Public School after her family moved to the Thornleigh suburb of Sydney at the age of ten.

• At the age of eleven, she moved to the Kew suburb of Melbourne along with her family.

• She later started studying at Carey Baptist Grammar School, where she became the first girl player to play for the school’s XI team.

• She started playing in Australian domestic cricket in the 2008 season and became their captain in 2014. Her first century in domestic cricket came on 29 October 2011, when she scored 127 runs against Queensland Fire. She scored 175 runs against ACT Meteors on 10 November 2012 which became the highest individual score in WNCL. She surpassed her own record of highest score by making 190 runs against Tasmania on 29 October 2016.

• She has two double centuries in the Victorian Women’s Cricket Association for Box Hill, scoring 241 runs and 244 runs.

• Her first test fifty came in 2019 when she made 57 runs against England. She made 93 runs in a test match against England in January 2022.

• She made her first ODI century by scoring 104 runs against England in her second ODI match on 7 January 2011. She scored multiple centuries in the course of her career.

• She played in 7 matches in the 2013 ODI World Cup held in India and made 226 runs at an average of 32.29. She made a century in a group-stage match against New Zealand and a useful knock of 31 runs to help Australia win the tournament.

• She played in 6 matches in the 2017 ODI World Cup held in England and made 330 runs at an average of 55. She scored 152 runs against Sri Lanka in a group stage match and got out on a duck in the final match after which Australia lost the match.

• She played in 9 matches in the 2022 ODI World Cup held in New Zealand and made 294 runs at an average of 32.67. She scored 135 runs against South Africa in a group-stage match. and captained them to clinch the trophy.

• She made her second T20I century by scoring 133 runs against England on 26 July 2019. She made her first T20I half-century by scoring 76 runs against New Zealand on 22 January 2013.

• She led the Australian team to win the gold medal in the T20 tournament at the 2022 Birmingham Commonwealth Games.

• She took a break from cricket in August 2022 for 5 months. She said that she was unable to perform at the highest levels due to exhaustion from playing cricket and needed the break for personal reasons. She travelled to various cities and also worked as a waiter at a local cafe.

• She was signed up by Melbourne Stars for the inaugural season of the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) in the 2015-16 season. She later signed up with Perth Scorchers for the 2017-18 season. She again signed up with Melbourne Stars for the 2020-21 season.
