• Rahman started playing cricket in his village with his friends when he was a child. He also played other sports such as football.

• His father wanted him to become a doctor but he was not interested in studies and often missed school to play cricket.

• His brother Mokhlesur Rahman supported him a lot and used to take him to play matches. He later went to Satkhira Gonomukhi Sangha, where the coach Altaf told him to become a bowler after seeing his natural bowling action.

• He later played for the Bangladesh Under-19 team in the 2014 Under-19 World Cup in which he took 8 wickets. He later played for Bangladesh A in 2014.

• Anamul Haque Bijoy once asked him to bowl a slower delivery during a practice session. When Rahman bowled one, he saw the ball turning and bouncing after which he developed his slower cutter delivery at 120 kph and 130 kph speed.

• He later played for Bangladesh and made headlines by taking 13 wickets in his debut 3-match ODI series against India in 2015. He also made headlines for his collision with Rohit Sharma and Mahendra Singh Dhoni during the 1st ODI.

• Rahman, along with other Bangladeshi players, were minutes away from Al Noor mosque in Christchurch, New Zealand on 15 March 2019 when the terrorist attack happened. He was very disturbed by the incident.

• Mustafizur Rahman emerged as the highest wicket-taker of Bangladesh in the 2019 ODI World Cup held in England. He took 20 wickets in 8 matches at an average of 24.20, a strike rate of 21.65, and an economy rate of 6.71.

• He made headlines for wearing the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) jersey without the logo of SNJ 10000, an alcohol brand. Reportedly, he did not support the logo due to his religious beliefs and was permitted by CSK management to wear the jersey without the logo.

• In an interview, Rahman said he does not believe in sledging and displaying aggressive actions against the opposition. He said that even though he is full of aggression while bowling, he never shows it in words or actions and focuses on his bowling.

• He does not know any other language other than Bangla.

• In an interview, he revealed an interesting incident from his childhood and said that during his childhood, he used to eat with his left hand. His mother considered it opposite to the custom in Bangladeshi households and took him to some place in his village to correct his habit. After returning from that place, he started eating with his right hand while he easily did other things with his left hand. Even after growing up, he was not been able to eat with his left hand.
