• In May 1996, Nafe Singh Rathee was elected as a Member of the 9th Haryana Legislative Assembly from the Bahadurgarh constituency, representing the Social Action Party. He won the elections by a narrow margin of 1.1 per cent.

• In March 2000, he was re-elected as a member of the 10th Haryana Legislative Assembly from the Bahadurgarh constituency on the ticket of Indian National Lok Dal (INLD). He served in the position till 2005.

• Nafe Singh Rathee then held the position of Chairman of the Bahadurgarh Municipal Council for two terms.

• On 25 February 2024, Nafe Singh Rathee was shot and killed while in his car by unidentified gunmen suspected to be part of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. Despite efforts to save him, Rathee succumbed to multiple bullet injuries sustained during the attack. ^[7]Business Standard
