ControversiesA Situation of Stampede at His Spiritual Event
In 2023, Pandit Pradeep organised a Shiva Purana Katha and Rudraksha Mahotsav event in Madhya Pradesh on the eve of Maha Shivratri. On the day of the event, a more than expected crowd gathered there which created a situation of ruckus. During the stampede, a few people died on the spot. Some of the family members of the victims accused Pandit Pradeep of not making proper arrangements while some other people blamed the local administration for not making proper arrangements for handling the crowd. Later, a woman from the crowd blamed Pandit’s nephew for mishandling her. After considering all the incidents, the local administration asked Pandit Pradeep to wrap up the Rudraksha Mahotsav. Later, when Pandit Pradeep was asked about the situation at his spiritual event, he said that he was unaware of the stampede. [3]ABP Live He further said,

Passed Derogatory Comments During His Kathas
Most of the time, he is in news for passing objectional statements against various communities. He once said that India is a Hindu Rashtra which was not well received by various sections of Indian society. The people of the Bhim Army even asked him to apologise for his statement. In one of his pravachans, he said that one boy from every Indian family must join Sangh or Bajrang Dal. The local Congress objected to his statement. The international organisation All World Gayatri Pariwar once accused him of making fun of their sutra sentence ‘Hum badlenge, yug badlega, Hum sudhrenge, yug sudhrega’ during his Shri Maa Tapti Shivmahapuran Katha.   • Pandit Pradeep Mishra is an Indian spiritual orator (kathavachak). He is a chief priest at the Kubreshwar Dham, Kubereshwar Mahadev Mandir, Sehore, Madhya Pradesh.
  • During his childhood, his family faced various financial difficulties. Pandit Pradeep even did not have money to buy a dhoti which he could wear to his spiritual events. Someone then gifted him a dhoti and for many years, he had only one dhoti.
  • As a kid, he used to accompany his parents to various spiritual events in his village. Gradually, he started inclining towards spirituality. Later, he started working as a pandit in his village and simultaneously, he worked as a teacher in a school. After working as a teacher for almost 10 years, he quit his job.

  • He once shared that after leaving his job as a teacher, he started working full-time as a pandit in his village. He further shared how he started preaching Shrimad Bhagwat Katha. He said that a lady named Geeta Bai Prashar, who used to wash utensils in people’s houses once made a resolution that she would organise a Shrimad Bhagwat Katha at her home. After her husband’s demise, she made the resolution but due to the lack of money, she was not able to make arrangements for the katha. Pandit Pradeep then assured her that he would organise the Shrimad Bhagwat Katha at her home. The lady then politely refused him to do so and said that as he did not have any deeksha under some guru, so without proper knowledge, he should not become a preacher of Shrimad Bhagwat Katha. On her advise, Pandit Pradeep then went to Indore to take his deeksha under his guru Shree Govardhan Nath. In one of his kathas, he talked about his guru. He said,

    It was the Guru who taught us to wear dhoti. Guru gave a potli in my hand and said that wherever you do Katha, your pandal will never remain empty. It is by his grace that so many devotees come to my pandal.”

  • After completing his deeksha in Indore, he returned to his village and started reciting Shrimad Bhagwat Katha at various spiritual events in small pandals. A few years later, he started developing an interest in Shiva Purana. In 2020, during the COVID-19 lockdown, on his YouTube channel Pradeep Ji Mishra Sehore Wale, he uploaded a Shiva Purana katha for the first time. The video gained immense popularity. He then uploaded more Shiva Purana katha videos on his YouTube channel, and soon he gained millions of subscribers on his channel. As of February 2023, he has around 4.35 million subscribers on his YouTube channel.

  • After the lockdown was lifted in India, Pandit Pradeep Mishra organised his first Shiva Purana katha and Rudraksha Mahotsav in Sehore, Madhya Pradesh. Above his expectations, thousands of people gathered in Sehore on the day of the spiritual event. After the roads were blocked with heavy traffic jams, the local administration asked him to wrap up the event before it was scheduled to end. Later, in one of his spiritual events, he was so overwhelmed by his followers’ love that he shed tears in their love and even apologised for not providing the rudrakshas to his followers in the Rudraksha Mahotsav. Later, Pandit Pradeep’s kathas and pravachans started telecasting on the Hindi TV channel Aastha.

  • In the same year, one of his videos went viral on social media in which he said that to pass the school examinations, a child can put honey on bel patra and sticks it to a Shivalinga. A few days later, some sources claimed that his son failed the school examinations. A few netizens trolled him for this and said that his bel patra totka did not work for his son.
