Pooja was born into a middle-class Malayali family with an army background.

She got her first commercial at the age of 8.

As a kid, she was tomboyish, but with the passage of time, she became girly.

Being brought up in a sports enthusiast family, she used to be good at extracurricular activities like swimming, horse riding, Kathakali and Bharatnatyam dance. She has also been a Karnataka state champion and district champion in the shuttle.

She was bitten by the modelling bug during her college days, and in 2004, she went on to win the ‘Miss Coimbatore’ beauty pageant.

In 2006, she won music’s Pan India Talent Hunt- ‘VJ Factor 2’ at SS Music along with Anuj Gurwara, Purnima Maudgil, and Gibran, after which, she started her career as a VJ at SS Music, Chennai.

In 2009, she won the Season 1 of the famous adventurous show ‘Anu Alavum Bayamillai’ – Season 1.

After 2012, she stopped doing TV shows as she started getting films across Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam industries.

In 2018, she entered the ‘Bigg Boss Telugu 2’ house as a wild card entry.
