- Prakash’s surname ‘Padukone’ was named after his villages name, Padukone, near Kundapura, Udupi district, Karnataka.
- He had a keen interest in Badminton since his childhood and also won the National Junior Champion in 1964.
- In 1971, Padukone became the youngest player to win the national senior championship at the age of 16.
- He won the National Senior championship title consecutively for nine years from the year 1971 to 1979.
