  • Prerana Katte was born and grew up in Sitara, Maharashtra. She belongs to an agricultural family.
  • In an interview, Katte mentioned that no one in her family had previously worked in civil services, and she was the first person in her family to take up a job outside farming. She added that her father, who himself wanted to pursue a career in civil services, although due to his family circumstances, he didn’t fulfill his dream; however, he always encouraged his daughters to follow the path instead.
  • When she was in grade 9, she had decided to pursue a career in civil service. She said,

By the time I was in Class 8 or 9, I was sure I wanted to pursue civil services. I used to read articles about officers and even kept newspaper cuttings about them.”

  • After completing her bachelor’s degree in agricultural science, she appeared in the Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) examination.
