• Puneeth Rajkumar was an Indian actor, singer, and Kannada film producer. He was well known for his performances in the films Vasantha Geetha, Bhagyavantha, Chalisuva Modagalu, Eradu Nakshatragalu, Bhakta Prahaladha, Yarivanu, and Bettada Hoovu.

• Puneeth Rajkumar was born in a family belonging to the Kannada film industry. His father was a legendary actor, and his mother was an Indian film producer and distributor.

• Puneeth Rajkumar started his acting career in 1976 by playing the role of an infant in the Kannada film ”Premada Kanike.” Next, he appeared in the film “Sanaadi Appanna” in which he played the character of young Ashok. He acted in more than 12 films as a child artist. Puneeth rose to fame after appearing onscreen as Ramu in N. Lakshminarayan’s directed film”Bettada Hoovu.” His acting skills received huge critical acclaim and that role also earned him the National Film Award for Best Child Artist (1985).

• In 2002, Puneeth, for the first time, appeared in a lead role for the film “Appu.” He played the character of Appu opposite Rakshita. The other major cast of the film includes Avinash, Srinivasa Murthy, and Sumithra. Later, he became part of several popular films like Abhi, Veera Kannadiga, Maurya, Aakash, Namma Basava, and Ajay. In 2007, he appeared on screen as Shivaraj Arasu in the film “Arasu.” His performance in the film gained him huge popularity, and he was also awarded the Filmfare Award for Best Actor – Kannada. In the same year, he also became part of the film “Milana” in which he played the character of Aakash and earned a number of awards for his performance. The awards include Karnataka State Film Award for Best Actor and Suvarna Film Award for Best Actor.

• In 2010, he appeared in the multilingual film ”Jackie” as Janakirama aka Jackie. The movie was released in 3 different languages- Kannada, Malayalam, and Telugu.

• Apart from being an actor, Puneeth also worked as a singer and sang a number of famous Kannada songs like
  ‘Baana Dariyalli Soorya’ from the film “Bhagyavantha” (1981), ‘Kaanadante Maayavadano’ from the film ”Chalisuva Modagalu” (1982), Govinda Govinda & Ela Elavo of the film ”Bhakta Prahlada” (1983), etc.

• Puneeth Rajkumar also worked as a television host for a number of entertainment shows. His first television show was the first season of  “Kannadada Kotyadhipati,” which aired on Asianet Suvarna in the year 2012. After the success of the first season of the quiz game show, makers again signed Puneeth for the second season of the game show. Puneeth Rajkumar also hosted the Indian reality television family game show “Family Power.”

• In 2014, Puneeth Rajkumar judged the reality dance show “UPstarters.” The other judges at the show were Dhanush, Rachita Ram and Puneeth Rajkumar, Andrea Jeremiah, Silambarasan, Amala Paul.

• Puneeth Rajkumar was once the brand ambassador of the Indian Premier League (IPL) cricket team Royal Challengers Bangalore.

• On  29 October 2021, Puneeth Rajkumar passed away at the age of 46 after suffering a major cardiac arrest while working out in the gym. Soon after the news of his death circulated on the internet, social media was flooded with the messages of his fans paying condolences to his family. People from the Indian Film Industry took to social media to pay the actor their last tributes. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi also took to Twitter to express his condolences after the actor’s sudden death and called it a “cruel twist of fate.”
