Controversies• Charged for violating the FEMA norms: A congress leader, Bakka Judson, registered a complaint to ED (Enforcement Directorate) against Puri Jagannadh and his business partner Charmme Kaur clamming that the money invested by them in the film ‘Liger’ was black. After investigation it was found that the money invested in the film was first sent to Dubai and later returned as funding for the film. Later, Puri Jagannadh and Charmme Kaur were charged by ED for violating the FEMA norms.
• Commented on the idea of marriage: In September 2020, in his podcast show ‘Puri Musings,’ Puri Jagannadh called the marriage an ‘outdated’ idea, and said that one should not marry if wanted to achieve bigger goals in life. He criticised the idea of marriage in his podcast show by citing various examples including of Jesus and Lord Buddha, and said,
"Marriage is out dated. If the concept of marriage is good, then Jesus would’ve married 10 times. It was only after leaving his wife that Prince Siddhartha became Buddha. If you’re aggressive towards your work, don’t get married." [2]The Times of India
• Filed a complaint against D. V. V. Danayya: Puri Jagannadh filed a written complaint against the film producer D. V. V. Danayya at Andhra Pradesh Film Directors Association (APFDA) for denying Jagannadh his remuneration. According to sources, Danayya owe him a withheld amount of Rs 4.5 crore. [3]The Times of India
• Received death threats: In October 2022, Puri Jagannadh received death threats from the distributors of his film ‘Liger,’ after the film failed to run at box office.The distributors protested in front of Jagannadh’s house asking to cure the financial loss bore by them due to the failure of the film. Jagannadh asked for police protection and claimed that he didn't cheat anyone except his audience.

  • Puri Jagannadh is an Indian filmmaker. He has done more than forty films in the Telugu, Hindi, and Kannada film industries.
  • He started assisting the filmmaker Ram Gopal Verma in various Telugu films soon after completing his studies.
  • In 1989, he made a special appearance in the song “Botany” from the film ‘Shiva’ starring Nagarjuna. It was his first appearance on screen.
