  • On 13 April 1993, Rajan Shahi shifted to Mumbai from Delhi to pursue a career in the film industry, at the insistence of actor P. Jairaj, his maternal grandfather.

  • During his initial days, he worked as a junior artist for a daily wage of Rs 500 for advertisements.
  • He assisted directors Ravi Rai and Mahesh Bhatt from 1993 to 1999.
  • He became an independent director in 2000 with the show Dil Hai Ki Manta Nahi, written by Pearl Grey and starring Vishal Singh and Rupali Ganguly.

  • Some of the other television shows directed by him are Bacha Party (2004) and Maat Pitaah Ke Charnon Mein Swarg (2009).
  • In 2007, he started his first production house, Director’s Kut Production, with its debut production, Sapna Babul Ka… Bidaai (2007) on StarPlus.
