His music inspiration was his grandfather, Bufford Green, who had a music joint during his growing-up years. He started songwriting at the age of 14.

In college, he played football and was an NCAA (National Collegiate Athletic Association) Division I Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) quarterback.

In 2013, he released an extended play in his name on iTunes and Spotify. At the start of his music career, he played in clubs and bars.

He was one of the contestants in the reality show Redneck Island (season 4) on CMT in 2014. He and Becky Andrews won the competition, and the prize was $100,000.
