  • He started playing cricket for the Canadian national team in 2008; however, he had to work many side jobs to make a living.
  • His first job was as a telemarketer selling internet plans for a communications company.
  • From January 2008 to April 2008, he worked as a finance co-operator at Deluxe Entertainment Services, Toronto. He worked as a finance co-operator at Grand & Toy in Toronto from September 2008 to December 2008.

  • Zafar was a fast bowler during his earlier days of playing cricket; however, he later became a spinner to avoid injuries.
  • From October 2015 to September 2018, he worked as a procurement specialist at Aviva Canada. After his promotion to the position of procurement category manager between September 2018 to March 2019.
  • Zafar came to the spotlight during the final of the 2018 Global T20 Canada Tournament in which he took 2 wickets for 26 runs and scored 79 runs off 48 balls, helping Vancouver Knights win the tournament for the first time.

  • He was appointed as the captain of Canada in July 2022. He led Canada to reclaim its ODI status, after 9 years, in 2023.

  • In an interview, he revealed that he has a condition called Trypanophobia (fear of needles) and almost passes out whenever he goes for a medical test.
