Some Lesser Known Facts About Saad Bin Zafar
- Saad Bin Zafar liked playing cricket since his childhood and played with a tape ball with his friends when he was ten.
- While studying in school, his coach noticed his talent at the age of fourteen and included him in the school cricket team after which he started playing with leather ball.
- In 2004, he moved to Canada to pursue a college education. He later played for his college team after which he started playing in local tournaments.
- He started playing cricket for the Canadian national team in 2008; however, he had to work many side jobs to make a living.
- His first job was as a telemarketer selling internet plans for a communications company.
- From January 2008 to April 2008, he worked as a finance co-operator at Deluxe Entertainment Services, Toronto. He worked as a finance co-operator at Grand & Toy in Toronto from September 2008 to December 2008.

- In November 2011, he obtained a Canadian Securities Certification.
- From November 2011 to June 2013, he worked as a procurement expeditor at Vale in Toronto. In June 2013, he was promoted to the position of procurement analyst at Vale, and he worked there till October 2015.
- Zafar was a fast bowler during his earlier days of playing cricket; however, he later became a spinner to avoid injuries.
- From October 2015 to September 2018, he worked as a procurement specialist at Aviva Canada. After his promotion to the position of procurement category manager between September 2018 to March 2019.
- Zafar came to the spotlight during the final of the 2018 Global T20 Canada Tournament in which he took 2 wickets for 26 runs and scored 79 runs off 48 balls, helping Vancouver Knights win the tournament for the first time.
- He was appointed as the captain of Canada in July 2022. He led Canada to reclaim its ODI status, after 9 years, in 2023.
- In an interview, he revealed that he has a condition called Trypanophobia (fear of needles) and almost passes out whenever he goes for a medical test.
- He said in an interview that he cannot do skydiving or bungee jumping as he has a fear of heights.
- He helped Canada qualify for the 2024 T20 World Cup, held in the USA and West Indies, by winning 4 matches in the 2023 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Americas Qualifier.
