Some Lesser Known Facts About Sarang Sathaye

• Sarang has lived in different places in Pune. When he was in 7th standard he shifted to Rajasthan because of his father’s work.

• As a child Sarang was of a very Jolly and funny nature and he loved acting and singing songs.

• While completing his graduation, he used to participate in various plays and dramas in college that made him realise his passion for acting and filmography and then decided to pursue it as a career.

• He gained experience as an actor by working in a theatre for 14 years. He has directed plays and has worked as an assistant director for various dramas and films.

• In 2011, he played the lead in the film The Bright Day.

• He has played small yet impactful roles in many films like Ubuntu (2017), Me Vasantrao (2022), Natsamrat (2016), Siddhant (2015), and The River of Love (2021).

• In 2014, Sarang Sathaye along with Paula McGlynn and Anusha Nandakumar co-founded Gulbadan Talkies which is a creative video production service boutique based in Mumbai, India. He directed the first video by Gulbadan Talkies which was an advertisement for Parle-G.

• In 2016, Sarang, Anusha Nandakumar and Paula McGlynn co-founded Bharatiya Digital Party (BhaDiPa), one of the first platforms that produced Marathi digital content. It gained popularity with its successful Marathi satirical talk show, Casting Couch with Amey and Nipun (2016), hosted by Amey Wagh and Nipun Dharmadhikari. On this channel they upload diverse content including comedy, travel, vlogs, and political infotainment.

• He loves doing standup comedy and he became the first person to start Marathi language standup shows.

• Sarang has also worked as a photographer for the company Conde Nast. He has a passion for photography and often post portrait pictures of nature, animals and monuments on his Instagram account.

• BhaDiPa has created many popular Marathi web series directed by Sarang along with his wife Paula McGlynn like Pandu (2019) on MX Player, Chikatgunde (2020) on YouTube, and Shanti Kranti (2021) aired on Sony Liv.

• In 2022, BhaDiPa produced a web series B.E. Rojgaar in collaboration with Scaler, which became the most watched Marathi web series on YouTube.

• He is a cat lover. He has pet cats and he often post comedy reels with his cats on his Instagram account.
