• Shikha Goel was born and brought up in New Delhi, India.

• She is an IPS officer of the 1994 batch from the Telangana cadre.

• In an interview, Shikha mentioned that she had been an introverted person since childhood, as her upbringing was very sheltered.

• After completing her training at the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration in Mussoorie, she initially joined the Indian Forest Service in 1995; however, three months later, she moved to the Indian Police Service.

• For her first assignment as an IPS officer, she was posted in Jammu and Kashmir and served as an assistant superintendent of police.

• In 1997, Shikha Goel got married to her long-time boyfriend Vijay Kumar, whom she met at Delhi University. In an interview, Goel mentioned that initially her parents were against their relationship; however, later they accepted him.

• In 1999, she was transferred to the Andhra Pradesh Police and served in various positions.

• In 2018, as the Additional Commissioner of Police in Telangana, Goel led various initiatives and campaigns focused on mitigating crimes against women.
