Some Lesser Known Facts About Shivam Singh
- He started playing cricket during his school days with his family and friends.
- When he was 13-14 years old, he went to Lucknow to play in a school cricket tournament. There, a coach based in Delhi told Singh’s sports teacher that he played well.
- Hence, he left his village and came to Delhi, where he started cricket training at the Sonet Cricket Club under coach Tariq around 2010.
- He later started training under Harish sir and played tournaments for the collage group.
- He also trained at PlayMakers Academy in Gurugram to hone his cricketing skills.
- Later, Singh gave trials for Delhi Capitals, which went well; however, they refused to select him as he hasn’t played any domestic cricket.
- Paras Dogra and Shivam Singh later went to Pondicherry and played in the Chennai Cricket League. The club didn’t want to select him, but they did at Dogra’s insistence.
- In his debut match in September 2022, during a TNCA First Division match for Nelson SC against Madras CC, he scored a double century with 202 runs off 302 balls, with 17 fours and 1 six.
- Singh had a wonderful season, after which they gave him 2-year employment, which would have made him eligible to play for Tamil Nadu.
- In December 2022, Punjab Kings selected him for the 2023 IPL season. He was late in submitting the auction form and thought he would not be selected.
- However, there was another ‘Shivam Singh, from Bihar whose name was there in the list. So, Shivan Singh was chosen at another player’s behest. Later, the confusion was cleared and he was told that he had been selected for Rs 20 lakhs.

- In May 2023, he became the first cricketer to score a double hundred in the Goswami Ganesh Dutt Cricket Tournament with 202 runs in 103 deliveries including 19 fours and 15 sixes at a strike rate of 196.12.
- In 2024, he was the highest runscorer for Dragons with 364 runs. Singh also hit the maximum number of sixes (23) in the tournament.
- He has an unorthodox shot named Shivscoop which he invented to have a unique shot. He practises it every day for around 30 minutes to 1 hour.
