- Sumrit Shahi is an Indian novelist and a screenwriter. He is known for writing romance novels.
- Sumrit Shahi attended St. John’s High School in Chandigarh till class 10 and later transferred to SelaQui International School in Dehradun to complete his schooling; however, he was soon expelled from school due to possessing a banned substance. Later, he moved back to Chandigarh and completed his schooling at Bhavan Vidyalaya, Panchkula. According to Sumrit, after moving back to Chandigarh and with an expulsion on his school record, he could not get admission to any school in Chandigarh.
- In 2010, at the age of 17, Sumrit wrote his first novel, ‘Just Friends,’ which sold more than 1 Lakh copies in the first few months after its publication. In October 2011, he published his second book, “A Lot Like Love… A Li ‘l Like Chocolate,” which also became a best-selling novel and was appreciated for its dark humour.
- After his second novel, “A Lot Like Love… A Li ‘l Like Chocolate,” was published in 2011, he was referred to as the “rock star of youth writing.”
