• She belongs to a Tamil family in Tamil Nadu.

• She was born with a defect on her left hand due to which her left-hand movements were restricted and flexion was below 30 percent. Sometimes she was left with shooting pain when a nerve flared up.

• Her father did not inform her about her deformity instead trained her in various sports with other able-bodied children at an early age.

• The straw hut she lived in during her childhood was burnt down in a fire which left her father with daily wages to provide food for her and her sister.

• Her father took a coaching course to train her in badminton.

• She joined Pullela Gopichand Badminton Academy in Hyderabad after coach Irfan spotted her in Tamil Nadu and helped her with training at the academy. Olympic Gold Quest supported her with travel and tournament expenses.

• Her medal at the 2024 Summer Paralympics Games in Paris is India’s fourth silver medal.
