  • He grew up in Gurdaspur, Punjab.

  • Varinder belonged to a family with a sports background. His father was a Kabaddi player, and his grandfather was a hockey player.
  • Varinder was fond of cricket since childhood and played as a fast bowler for his school’s cricket team. However, his father advised him to pursue a career in athletics so that he could get enrolled into police later.
  • Soon, his family relocated from Gurdaspur and got settled in Jalandhar.
  • In Jalandhar, he once attended an event that was attended by many renowned bodybuilders of Punjab. Varinder got too impressed with them and decided to pursue bodybuilding as his career.
  • He then joined a gym and started working on his body under the guidance of a good trainer. He built his body for 5 years and later participated in a district-level bodybuilding competition, where he received the title of Mr. Jalandhar.
  • Later, he won the title of Mr. Punjab.
  • In 2009, he participated in the Mr. India contest and emerged as the winner of the title.
  • In the same year, he bagged second position in the Mr. Asia contest.
  • He then competed in the Australian Grand Prix, following which he received the International Fitness and Bodybuilding Federation (IFBB) pro card. He also won the Amateur Australia Championship.

  • Subsequently, he moved to Mumbai to pursue a course in dance and acting.
  • He then featured in a few music videos.
  • Varinder started his acting career in 2012 with the Punjabi film Kabaddi Once Again. He played the role of Shingara Singh in the film.
  • Two years later, he appeared in the Hindi film Roar: Tigers of the Sundarbans opposite Nora Fatehi. He played the role of Cheena in the film.

I was a top ranker at the event and Arnold was enthralled to see my body and that I was the tallest bodybuilder from India. I feel proud for getting noticed by such a big Hollywood actor. He had never promoted any Bollywood movie before this. I take it as his blessings that he posted my poster on his account.”
