Some Lesser Known Facts About Vijayraj Kumari
- Vijayraj Kumari belonged to the former Royal Family of Kutch, Gujarat. She was the younger daughter of Maharaja Fateh Singhji of Kutch, Gujarat and granddaughter of Maharao of Kutch.
- As she was brought up in a royal family where she was introduced to traditional values as well as education and discipline from an early age.
- During the 1960s, after completing her schooling at Franciscan Convent School, Ooty, Tamil Nadu, she travelled to Europe and America to strengthen her knowledge about social and economic changes taking place in the West.
- In 1972, she got married to Shriji Arvind Singh Mewar of Udaipur and settled in Udaipur.
- After her marriage, she became associated with the House of Mewar and gradually took an active interest in education, philanthropy, religion and social development.
- In 1974, the Maharana Mewar Public School was established in Udaipur. Vijayaraj Kumari later became closely associated with the institution and its development.
- In 1980s, she became associated with other charitable and religious trusts connected with Mewar, including Shree Eklingji Temple and the Shree Eklingji Trust.
- She was also strongly interested in yoga and Spirituality and was associated with the Bihar School of Yoga.
- In 2000s, along with Vijayraj Kumari ‘s social and philanthropic activities, she also had a role in the family’s hospitality business, where she served as Joint Managing Director of Historic Resorts Hotel Pvt. Ltd., the flagship company of the HRH Group of Hotels.
- In March 2025, after the death of Vijayraj Kumari’s husband, Arvind Singh Mewar she became the senior surviving female member of the immediate Mewar family.

- On 15 September 2026, Vijayraj Kumari Mewar died in Udaipur, after being unwell for some time.
