  • Initially, Vivek’s father didn’t support him as he didn’t believe Vivek could make a good career out of hockey in India. He wanted Vivek to make a career through academics.
  • His siblings and his mother encouraged him to pursue his dreams and would often protect Vivek from getting beaten up by his father for playing hockey.
  • He was noticed by his mentor, Ashok Kumar Dhaynchand, in a local senior-level tournament in Akola, Maharashtra, in 2013.

  • Thereafter, Ashok Kumar invited Vivek for a trial in his hockey academy in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, which he readily accepted.
  • Vivek stayed with Ashok Kumar for 2 months before joining his hockey academy, where he developed his skills.
  • In 2016, he suffered a life-threatening injury to his collarbone during a practice match and needed immediate surgery.
  • He was the captain of the Indian junior hockey team at the 2018 Summer Youth Olympics.

  • He is the second-youngest hockey player to debut for the senior Indian team at the age of 17 years in 2018.
