- Zeeshan Akhtar’s family originally belonged to Maharashtra, but shifted to Shanker village in Nakodar subdivision before his birth in 2003.
- He completed his primary studies at a madrasa in the Beed district of Maharashtra.
- He later studied at the Afjal Garh madrasa in Bijnor district in Uttar Pradesh.
- He then took admission in the government school in Shanker village in class 6th.
- He once went to work with his father, where he was accused of stealing a mobile phone, but the issue got settled with mutual understanding.
- The first FIR lodged against him was a case of extortion of a local businessman in September 2021 at the Nakodar police station.
- On 6 July 2022, Jalandhar Rural police arrested him for robbery and also booked him under the Arms Act.
- He was shifted between jails in Patiala and Kapurthala before getting bail in June 2023.
- A police official claimed that he shifted his base to Kaithal, Haryana, after getting released from jail and wanted to become a big gangster. Akhtar often told the police officials that he would do a big task one day.
- Reportedly, he got close to gangster Lawrence Bishnoi while he was jailed with shooter Gurmel Singh.
- Some reports claimed that he got in touch with Bishnoi through aide Vikramjit Singh, alias Vikram Brar, who introduced him to other gang members living in Punjab’s Kotkapura town.

- Three shooters killed the former Maharashtra minister and NCP (Ajit Pawar) leader Baba Siddique on the night of 12 October 2024, outside the office of his son, Zeeshan Siddique, in Mumbai’s Bandra (East).
- In February 2025, a video went viral in which Akhtar claimed that he secured a safe residence in a foreign country with the help of Pakistan-based ISI agent Shahzaad Bhatti.
- He, along with Bhatti, threw a grenade at YouTuber Rozer Sandhu’s house at Raipur Rasoolpur village in Jalandhar district on 16 March 2025, but it did not explode.
- Police arrested 7 people and lodged an FIR under Section 109 (murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Sections 3, 4 and 5 of the Explosives Act and also under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) at the Maqsudan police station.
- In April 2025, Punjab Police special director general of police Arpit Shukla named Akhtar as the key conspirator behind the 2nd grenade blast at the house of senior BJP leader and former state minister Manoranjan Kalia in Jalandhar, Punjab.
- On 11 June 2025, Mumbai Police issued an official statement that they received information from Surrey Police in Canada that they had detained Akhtar around 3 days ago.
