- In 2011, when he was studying at MMK College in Bandra, he turned his college fest, Lakshya into a major event. He organized lunch for around 600 students in Taj Lands End. He also booked three rooms in the hotel where students were seen playing guitar and casino. The expenses were taken care of by Zeeshan. Before the event, there were 8 hoardings on 20 buses advertising “Zeeshan Siddique presents Lakshya 2011.” In an interview, he said he had no idea about the expenses because his father was taking care of them. Later, his father said that he did not want his son to be involved in any controversy. In the interview, he further added,
I studied at MMK College, and I’m contributing to its event because of my attachment to the institute. Is it wrong to spend money for a good cause? Regarding Zeeshan, I never asked the college authorities or Lakshya organising committee to promote him.”
- In 2019, he bagged 38,337 votes defeating Shiv Sena’s Vishwanath Mahadeshwar by 5790 votes in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly election and became the youngest MLA of Maharashtra.
- In 2021, he wrote a letter to Sonia Gandhi and complained about the “ill-treatment” against him by Mumbai chief Bhai Jagtap during a recent public protest. In a letter, Siddique said that during a morcha at Dadar, Jagtap used foul language in the presence of senior leaders. In the letter, he said,
Before the protest, a delegation of leaders went to Dr BR Ambedkar’s memorial Raj Gruha to pay respects to the architect of the Constitution of India. Senior leader KC Venugopalji and HK Patilji had joined the delegation. Despite being one of the only four Mumbai legislators representing the party, my name was not on the list. Being an elected representative, when the police officers were willing to let me go [to the memorial], Jagtapji rushed out and told the personnel not to allow me to be a part of the delegation. When I requested that he should protect me as he is my president, he used foul language for me. ‘Go to hell, if you are feeling bad about it’, he said to me (sic).”
- In 2021, the Bombay High Court ordered the Maharashtra government to inquire about the Covid-19 vaccines provided by actor Sonu Sood and Zeeshan to the people. In a statement, the HC said, ‘these people (celebs) projected themselves as some kind of Messiah, without verifying if the drugs were spurious or if the supply was legal. In this case, we ask the state govt to scrutinise their actions.’ According to the State Advocate General Ashutosh Kumbhakoni, Zeeshan was purchasing the drugs from a charitable trust named BDR Foundation which did not have permission to supply them. Later, the Maharashtra government said that a criminal case was filed at the Mazgaon Magistrate’s Court against the trust and its trustees. Actor Sonu Sood received the drugs from several pharmacies inside the private Lifeline Care Hospital in Goregaon.

According to the government, MLAs who are from outside Mumbai have difficulty buying or renting flats in Mumbai. After the decision, there was a lot of criticism about it as MLAs have a monthly allowance and can afford a flat. In a Twitter post, he said,
I don’t need a house from the Maharashtra government when thousands of people in my Vandre east assembly aren’t getting houses and are living in dilapidated conditions. Request Maharashtra CM and Jitendra Awhad ji to spend this money to build their houses instead of giving houses to MLA’s.”
- In 2022, he alleged corruption in the projects by Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA), BMC, and Slum Rehabilitation Authority in the Bandra East area. In a Twitter post, he said,
H/east ward is full of corruption, a thorough investigation needs to be done on all the works carried out by the MMRDA and BMC in the last 2.5 years. BKC smart parking, roads full of potholes, the SWM scam, the badly planned Cycling track, SRA scam. I can go on & on about things!”
- In August 2024, he was expelled from the INC on disciplinary grounds. He, on 25 October 2024, joined the NCP to contest the Maharashtra Assembly elections from the Vandre (East) constituency of Mumbai.
