Some Lesser Known Facts About Dev Singh

  • Dev Singh belongs to a farmer’s family in Ballia, Uttar Pradesh.
  • At the age of 14, he shifted to Mumbai from Ballia to make his career in acting. There, he started living in the room of his close friend Udham. For the first time, he auditioned for Sony TV’s show ‘Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin.’ However, he was rejected, saying that he was too young. Later, he failed to clear a few more auditions.
  • After a year, he got a job, however, due to a lack of finances, he faced various financial difficulties. He gradually went into depression and later, he was diagnosed with epilepsy.
  • To divert his mind, he started working in a clothes shop Neel Fashion in Kings Circle, Mumbai. After working for 15 to 20 days, his mother passed away. After which he returned to his house with 1500 rupees.
  • While living in the village, Dev opened a clothes shop by borrowing money from his father. After running the shop for three years, he returned to Mumbai with 5000 rupees.
  • One day while he was in Mumbai, he met the Bhojpuri film director Rajkumar R. Pandey who suggested his name for the Bhojpuri film ‘Deewana.’
  • In 2009, he got a chance to deliver a small dialogue in the Bhojpuri TV serial “Imtihaan” which aired on Mahua TV Channel. However, in the middle of delivering the dialogue, he was thrown out of the set. Due to depression, he even attempted suicide. After recovering from depression, he got a chance to work with actress Richa Soni in the 2009 TV serial ‘Bhagyavidhaata.’ During this time, he started getting offers from Mahua TV Channel too.

  • In 2017, he got a chance to work in the Bhojpuri film “Tere Jaisa Yaar Kahan.” During the shooting, he came to know that his father had passed away. After which the Bhojpuri actor Pawan Singh sent him home by giving him 25000 rupees along with a flight ticket.
  • After this, Dev Singh got another chance to work with Pawan Singh in the 2017 Bhojpuri film “Pawan Raja” and he got 26000 rupees for the entire film. He left two Bhojpuri films to act in that film.
  • While acting in Pawan Raja’s film, he came to know that Bhojpuri star Khesari Lal Yadav‘s daughter was injured, after which he went to Khesari’s house. When Pawan Singh came to know about this, he stopped giving him work in his films.
  • Dev Singh has worked in a few films of Khesari Lal such as Main Sehra Bandh Ke Aaunga, Raja Jani, Damru, and Meri Jung Mera Faisla.
  • He has worked mainly with the Bhojpuri singer Arvind Akela (Kallu).
