Controversies• In December of 2014, Catherine's brother, Christopher, committed suicide by hanging himself to the window bars in his college hostel room. Some reports suggested that the actress' brother, who was pursuing his commerce degree at a private college in Bangalore, had been suffering from depression and that he had no means of financial support from either Catherine or his family. However, Catherine Tresa dismissed all such claims and said that she and her brother were on very good terms.
• Deccan Chronicle, a reputed English daily, published an article in May 2016 mocking actress’s poor Telugu during her speech at the Allu Arjun starrer ‘Sarrainadu’ success press meet. Furious with such a sub-standard level of journalism, Catherine released a statement, "To the Deccan Chronicle, Hyderabad. The levels you stoop to in the name of journalism never cease to amaze me. To write that I had no idea what my own lines in the film meant shows you really should not be writing at all. Common sense would dictate that I need to understand my lines before I deliver them in the film. But obviously, common sense and all forms of logic are clearly lacking in your case......."
