• Alamgir Tareen (1961-2023) was a Pakistani businessman and owner of the Multan Sultans who took his own life by shooting himself in the head in July 2023.

• During the 1990s, he joined his father’s company, Shamin & Company Private Limited, which was the largest bottle manufacturer for Pepsico in Multan, Pakistan. Over time, he climbed the corporate ladder and eventually became the Managing Director (MD) of the company.

• In 2018, Alamgir Tareen, in partnership with his nephew Ali Khan Tareen, purchased Multan Sultans, a team in the Pakistan Super League (PSL). They acquired the franchise through the Multan Consortium for a total of $6.35 million.

• He ended his life on 6 July 2023 and used a pistol to shoot himself in the head at his residence located in Gulberg, Lahore.

• He was discovered deceased by his housemaid, Alamdar who grew concerned when he didn’t respond to his repeated attempts to gain entry into his room. Promptly, the maid informed the police, who subsequently transferred the body to the nearby hospital for further procedures. ^[4]Khaleej Times

• According to reports, the police discovered a suicide note near Alamgir Tareen’s body, in which he allegedly mentioned a medical condition that compelled him to take such a drastic step. After his death, two suicide letters, one in English and the other in Urdu, started circulating widely. It was claimed that these letters were written by him; however, there were also allegations from many people stating that these letters were fake and not actually written by Alamgir Tareen.
