• Brandon McMullen is a South African cricketer who is known for scoring a century against Oman in the 16th match of the World Cup Qualifier 2023. He also became the fourth player to make a century and take a five-wicket haul in the match.

• In an interview, he said that his father and brother used to coach him and teach him how to play cricket when he was young. His stepmother also supported him a lot and used to sit and watch him play when he was in junior school.

• When he was studying at Hilton College, he used to captain the cricket team there. In an interview, he talked about captaining the team and said,
  

  Captaining Hilton College was a huge honour and privilege, I loved captaining the team, the boys got the best out of me. They were so easy to work with. I couldn’t have asked for a better team to be a part of than last year’s side. The boys were incredible on and off the field, the laughs and banter around the Hart Davis… It was the best time of my life. And I believe this is why we were so successful. Being captain of Hilton was a dream come true.”

• While he was in South Africa, he played at under-19 level for KwaZulu-Natal Inland and Hollywoodbets Dolphins. He played in the Coca-Cola Khaya Majola Cricket Week in 2017 in Johannesburg and also represented KZN Inland U19. He also played in the Cubs Franchise Week in Stellenbosch in 2018 for Dolphins U19.

• He took part in the West Premier League and a national league called the Scottish Cup, which is a knockout competition, and various T20 competitions where he scored 748 runs at an average of 47 with 7 fifties and 1 hundred with a highest score of 127 in all matches. He also netted 29 wickets at an average of 14.8 with an economy of 3.1 and best bowling figures of 5 for 25 in 10 overs in all the matches.

• After he got his residency in Scotland, he became eligible to play for Scotland after which he was selected to join the Scottish national team for the 2022 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in Australia.

• In December 2022, he played his first One Day International (ODI) match for Scotland against Namibia in the ICC Cricket World Cup League.

• During the 2023 Cricket World Cup Qualifier held in Zimbabwe, McMullen achieved a significant milestone in his One Day International (ODI) career. He took five wickets with impressive figures of 5/34 in a match against Ireland, leading his team to a narrow victory.

• In the tournament, he also scored his first-ever ODI century against Oman, reaching an impressive total of 136 runs from 121 balls.

• In the same tournament, Scotland defeated Caribbean giants West Indies by seven wickets. West Indies set a target of 181 after which Scotland made 185/3 in 43.3 overs. In an interview, he talked about his performance in the match and said,
  

  I am not too sure on bowling nine overs on the trot. It was going my way so had to make use of it…Just tried to play my game, rebuild and give my team the best chance of winning the game.”
