- C. N. Manjunath was raised in Hassan district of Karnataka where he completed his school education till 7th standard. He then moved to Bangalore to pursue higher school education.
- During his school days, he had a passion for cricket commentary.
- In 1982, C. N. Manjunath began his medical career at Bangalore Medical College as an intern.
- In 1985, he moved to Kasturba Medical College, Mangalore, and began working as a senior registrar at the Department of Cardiology. He worked there for three years.
- He then began working as an Assistant Professor and the Professor of Cardiology at Sri Jayadeva Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences and Research in 1988.
- In 1997, C. N. Manjunath became an editorial member of the Indian Heart Journal.
- In 1997, he voluntarily organised an angiography workshop at Chennai under the Asia Pacific Society.
- From 1998 to 1999, C. N. Manjunath served as the Advisory Committee Member of the Indo-French Heart Foundation.
