  • During childhood, Sarabjit, along with his siblings, used to spend time with his mother in jail during holidays. She was jailed for 2 years in 1986 for giving an inflammatory speech, which led to a confrontation between sikh protestors and the guards of the Chief Minister.
  • Before coming into politics, Sarabjit used to sell and purchase second-hand cars. He suffered a loss of Rs. 10 lacs in that business after which his family’s financial situation worsened.
  • Sarabjit contested in the 2004 Lok Sabha elections from Bathinda constituency but lost after getting 1,13,490 votes.
  • Sarabjit contested in the 2007 Punjab Legislative Assembly elections from Barnala constituency but lost after getting only 15,702 votes.
  • Sarabjit contested and won the 2024 Lok Sabha Elections from the Faridkot constituency as an independent candidate. He won with 2,98,062 votes, defeating Punjabi actor Karamjit Anmol who came second.
