Some Lesser Known Facts About Josh Inglis

Josh Inglis was born in England and started playing football at the age of 4 years.

2 years later, he started playing cricket with the children in his neighbourhood.

He moved to Australia at the age of 14 years in 2010.

He later became a cricketer and played domestic cricket in Australia.

In March 2021, while playing for Leicestershire against Northamptonshire, he scored his first T20 hundred with 103 runs not out in 62 balls.

He was a member of the Australian team that won the 2021 T20 World Cup held in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) but didn’t play any match.

Before the 2022 T20 World Cup, held in Australia, he was playing golf when the club snapped and pushed into his hand, injuring him. Hence, he was not included in the World Cup squad.

On 29 November 2023, he scored his first international T20I century with 110 runs in 50 balls against India. He made the highest T20I second-wicket partnership of 130 runs for Australia with Steve Smith.

He played 8 matches in the 2023 ODI World Cup held in India and scored 159 runs at an average of 19.88 and a strike rate of 94.64. He also took 14 catches and 2 stumpings.

On 6 September 2024 against Scotland, He became the first Australian wicketkeeper to score a T20I century and the fastest, with a hundred in just 43 deliveries.

He scored a century with 102 runs in 90 balls against Sri Lanka on his test debut in January 2025. It was the second fastest test hundred on debut, after Shikhar Dhawan who scored a century in 85 deliveries.

In the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) auction, Punjab Kings acquired him for Rs 2.60 crores against his base price of Rs 2 crores.

New South Wales coach Greg Shipperd once called him the right-handed version of David Warner.
