Some Lesser Known Facts About Swami Chaitanyananda

• Swami Chaitanyananda hails from Odisha, India.

• More than 20 years ago, he joined Sri Sri Jagadguru Shankaracharya Mahasamsthanam Dakshinamnaya Sri Sharada Peetham and became a monk.

• Swami is a monk of the Santana Vedic Tradition, which is a part of the Arsh Vidya Order and the Shankara Lineage.

• He is a senior disciple of Pujya Swami Dayananda Saraswati ji of Arsh Vidya.

• After becoming a monk, he was appointed as the chancellor and chairman of the Sharada Peetham’s International Research Foundation, Delhi.

• Apart from an MBA and a Ph.D, he earned several postdoctoral degrees and seven honorary Doctor of Literature or Doctor of Letters (D. Litt) from universities in India and abroad.

• He has written 28 books and several research papers on topics such as Indian wisdom, management, and leadership.

• For the last 12 years, he has been associated with the Sri Sharada Institute of Indian Management, Vasant Kunj, New Delhi, and has been serving as caretaker and operator of the institute.

• Recently, Swami was accused of targeting female students who enrolled under the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) scholarship scheme at the Sri Sharada Institute of Indian Management. The complaint was filed by the administrator of Sri Sringeri Math & Its Properties on 4 August 2025.

• According to the Delhi Police, 17 out of 32 female students have accused Swami of using abusive language, sending obscene messages, and making unwanted physical contact. Additionally, three faculty members of Sri Sharada Institute of Indian Management have also been charged with pressuring the students to fulfill Swami’s demands. In one message, Swami Chaitanyananda wrote,

Come to my room… I’ll take you on a trip abroad, you won’t have to pay anything.”

• Police found Whatsapp messages on the mobile phones of 50 women from the institute and found that a dozen of the women had suffered his unusual behavior over the past 16 years. In the messages, he promised them wealth, and in some, he threatened them by saying,

If you don’t obey me, I will fail you…”

• After the FIR was lodged, Swami initially got anticipatory bail but later withdrew the plea when the Delhi police presented “strong evidence” in court. According to the police, when the complaint was lodged in August 2025, he was in London. He later traveled to Mauritius.

• Earlier, in 2009, a case of fraud and molestation was registered against him in Defense Colony, New Delhi. In 2016, another woman filed a molestation complaint in Vasant Kunj. Police authorities have now begun reviewing these older cases alongside the latest accusations against him.

• During the ongoing investigation, police found a luxury Vovo car of Swami Chaitanyananda from the institute’s basement. The number plate of the car is fake. So the Delhi police filed a separate FIR against him in connection with the fake number plate.

• After the allegations against Swami Chaitanyananda, the Sri Sri Jagadguru Shankaracharya Mahasamsthanam Dakshinamnaya of Sri Sharada Peetham, Sringeri, broke the ties with him. In a statement, the Peetham said,

In a statement, the Peetham said: “Chaitanyananda Saraswati, formerly known as Dr. Parthasarathy, has engaged in activities that are illegal, inappropriate, and detrimental to the interests of Sri Sri Jagadguru Shankaracharya Mahasamsthanam Dakshinamnaya Sri Sharada Peetham. Sringeri (Peetham). As a result, the Peetham has severed all ties with him. The Peetham has also lodged complaints with the relevant authorities regarding illegal acts committed by Chaitanyananda Saraswati.”

• As of 25 September 2025, Swami Chaitanyananda is on the run, and he was last seen in Agra.
