This came after Malayalam actor Rini Ann George publicly alleged that a "young politician" had sent her obscene messages and invited her to a hotel, with media reports linking these claims to him. Mamkootathil denied any wrongdoing and continued to serve as the MLA for Palakkad. After this, several other women came forward, accusing him of misleading them into relationships by promising marriage. On December 4, 2025, the All India Congress Committee expelled him from the party; however, he continued to serve as the MLA for Palakkad, as party expulsion does not disqualify a sitting legislator. • In the bypoll election, Rahul received huge support from secular and minority communities, making him one of the party’s brightest young faces.

• On 21 August 2025, Mamkootathil resigned as president of the Kerala Youth Congress after his name was linked to allegations made by Malayalam actor Rini Ann George. However, he denied any wrongdoing and continued to serve as the MLA for Palakkad constituency.

• After this incident, several women accused him of sexual abuse and called him a womanizer and a sex maniac.

• One of a former Congress MP’s daughters also came forward and said that she had received a marriage proposal from the politician, but he later refused to marry her, because of her lower caste status.

• Honey Bhaskaran, a renowned writer from Kerala, also accused him of sending obscene texts.

• An audio clip was also webt viral in which he asked a woman to terminate a pregnancy. However, he claimed that this audio was fake, while the police sought legal opinions on the matter.

• Later, in his anticipatory bail, Rahul admitted that he had engaged in a sexual relationship that resulted in a pregnancy.

• After multiple sexual abuse allegations, Mamkoottathil was suspended from the Congress Party. His suspension was approved by the All India Congress Committee (AICC).

• On 11 January 2026, Rahul Mamkootathil was arrested after a third rape complaint. The complaint was filed by a woman from Pathanamthitta who is working in Canada. • According to her, she met Rahul on social media when she was facing problems in her marriage. She added that Rahul came into a relationship with her and pressured her to end her marriage.

• She added that Mamkootathil repeatedly expressed his desire to meet her in person, and when she asked to meet at a restaurant, Mamkootathil refused, saying that he could not meet in public as he was a public figure and insisted her to book a room in a hotel in Palakkad.

• The woman told the police that Rahul attacked her as soon as he entered the hotel room and brutally assaulted her sexually.

• She claimed that she became pregnant and was preparing for a DNA test of the fetus. She informed the police that the laboratory had requested a sample from Mamkootathil, but he did not cooperate with the DNA testing process. She also mentioned that she had evidence to support her claim and submitted these evidences to the investigation team.

• He was arrested from the KPM Regency Hotel in Palakkad and was sent to 14-day judicial custody.

• Along with his political career, Rahul Mamkootathil is also a successful businessman. He is the owner of a men’s salon and holds a partnership in a medical shop and in a children’s clothing store. He also runs a government milk agency, named Milma.
