  • Nusrat F Jafri grew up and was born in Lucknow.
  • Ever since she was a child, she had a passion towards photography because of the Art classes in the La Martiniere Girls College where she studied.
  • Later on, she transferred to higher studies in Delhi graduating through Delhi University and joining MCRC, Jamia Millia Islamia, to take a Masters in Mass Communication.
  • It is on this programme that she encountered Sumit Roy, a screenwriter, a Bengali Bengal and based in Delhi.
  • During most of their three-year degree, the two lived together in a flat in Hauz Khas.

  • Nusrat became a journalist at the Pioneer and CNBC Awaaz after she graduated with her Masters.
  • Her next step was to become fully involved in filmmaking, having spent the following years as a cinematographer.
  • Nusrat and Sumit were married in three ceremonies in 2011 which they did in order to respect the traditions of both cultures.
  • The couple adopted the name of the American musician, Bob Dylan, to be the name of its son, Dylan Jafri Roy.
  • Throughout her career, Nusrat participated in a number of productions as a Director of Photography.
