• He was a gold medallist in both graduation and post-graduation from St. Thomas College, Palai and hold a master’s degree in Political Science.

• Sibi also earned a diploma in Arabic from the American University of Cairo.

• In 1993, George joined Indian Foreign Services. During the early years of IFS, Sibi received training at Bahadur Shashtri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA), Mussoorie, Sushma Swaraj Institute of Foreign Service (SSIFS), New Delhi, Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Ahmedabad, and Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT), New Delhi.

• George started his diplomatic career in Cairo as a Political Officer.

• After Cario, in the late 1990s, he worked in Doha as First Secretary, where he handled consular, community, media and information affairs.

• In the early 2000s, he served as Political Counsellor at the Indian High Commission in Islamabad, Pakistan during an important phase of India-Pakistan diplomatic relations.

• From 2007 to 2010, he served as the Political Counsellor and Commercial Counsellor at Indian Embassy in Washington DC and as Deputy Chief of Mission in Indian Missions in Tehran, Iran and Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

• In 2010, Sibi worked in the Ministry of External Affairs, New Delhi, where he served in East Asia Division.

• At the Ministry of External Affairs, he also served as a coordinator of India–Africa Forum Summit. And later headed Administration, Establishment and Welfare Divisions.

• In 2014, Sibi George George was awarded with the S.K. Singh Award for Excellence in Indian Foreign Service by Former Vice President of India Mohammad Hamid Ansari.

• He got the award for his services in supporting the Indian expatriates during the Saudi Arabian Nitaqat scheme, a law aimed for giving preferential employment to locals, and involving a drive to identify illegal migrant workers.

• During the 2014 Nitaqat crisis, Sibi provided relief efforts for nearly 104 million Indian living in Saudi Arabia.

• From October 2017 to August 2020, he served as Indian Ambassador to Switzerland, the Holy See and Liechtenstein.

• In 2018, during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Davos for the World Economic Forum summit, and the visit of former President Ram Nath Kovind to Switzerland, Sibi handled all the diplomatic arrangements.

• From August 2020 to October 2022, he served as Indian Ambassador to Kuwait.
