Some Lesser Known Facts About Vijeta Dahiya

  • Vijeta Dahiya is from a farmer’s family. From age of 12, he became interested in theatre.
  • He joined Ranbaxy Laboratories Limited in July 2009 as a Business Intelligence Executive for the Demand Requirement Planning module of SAP-APO post his graduation.
  • He later secured a government job and served as Assistant at the Ministry of External Affairs to supplement his creative work with a job.

  • He worked on another 15 plays, in addition to making two or three short films, during this time, writing and directing independently.
  • After resigning from his government job, he moved to Mumbai to become an actor and auditioned extensively, but he wasn’t very fond of the process and decided to learn filmmaking.
  • His father didn’t like his choice of being a filmmaker but Vijeta’s mother supported him and he began his career.
  • He has also been a translator and assistant for documentary production by Mr. Yoen on child marriage in Rajasthan that aired on Korean national TV.
  • He worked in the theatre with a number of organisations and institutions. He gave a film making training program for the volunteers and staff of Vikalp Organisation, Jodhpur.
  • He staged street plays in 15 colleges of Sonepat and Panipat to sensitise the people about gender discrimination and female foeticide for Action Aid India’s Goonj project.
  • He has directed two plays for Rotary Public School, Gurgaon, A Christmas Carol and Safeena ki Nayi Duniya, based on The Wizard of Oz.

  • Dahiya attended a theatre workshop conducted for the students in Delhi Technological University and wrote, directed and designed a play, Hara Gulab, which was performed during the annual cultural festival, Engifest.
  • He conducted a street play on the importance of girl child at a health fair in Solan, Himachal Pradesh, presided over by the Chief Minister for HLFPPT, a Government Organisation.
  • Dahiya was an author and director of two Haryanvi movies, Dararein and Opri Paraai. His movie “Dararein” was released through an OTT platform.

  • He is also the author of two books, Power of Universe and To Hell with That Job.
  • He is also a poet (under the pen name Gulfam) and has penned stories, articles and scripts in various genres.
  • Dahiya has been known for his association with YouTube creator Dhruv Rathee, working as a researcher and scriptwriter for the videos.
  • He took writing samples to Rathee when he saw a call for writers and researchers and from there it went.
  • Speaking in interviews, Dahiya has described content creation, the duty of social media influencers and the importance of an informed public discourse in a democracy.
  • He is based in New Delhi and has been working under Unmaad Artworks.
  • Dahiya was named as one of the spokesmen of the Cockroach Janta Party in June 2026.
  • In a post on X, the outfit’s founder Abhijeet Dipke said that Dahiya will take on the party’s faces in their engagements with the public and the media.

  • The appointment is happening before a scheduled protest in Delhi protesting against alleged leak of NEET paper and improper functioning of CBSE system by Union minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
