  • Suneil Anand was the son of legendary actor and director Dev Anand and actress Kalpana Kartik.
  • Born in Zurich, Switzerland, at the time, his parents were on holiday to go the Karlovy Vary Film Festival in Czechoslovakia.
  • He was the youngest delegate to attend that year’s festival.
  • Suneil earned his degree in business administration from American University in Washington DC.
  • Upon completion of his studies, he returned to India and chose to join the film industry like his father.
  • During the late 1970s and early 1980s, he worked as a co-director on a number of films directed by Dev Anand.
  • He was initiated into the film industry as an actor by his father in 1984 when he was cast in the movie Anand Aur Anand.
  • In that film, Dev Anand was the main lead and Raakhee and Smita Patil were co-leads and Suneil had a supporting role.
  • The movie failed to make much money in the box office.
  • It was in the year of 1986 when Suneil got his next opportunity in Car Thief with Vijayata Pandit. That movie was also a flop.
  • Then his uncle, director Vijay Anand, signed him up for his 1989 film Main Tere Liye with Meenakshi Sheshadri.

  • He was rushed to a hospital where the first assessment was made, followed by a plan of stent procedure. But before the procedure could be performed, he had another heart attack and was unable to be revived.
  • His niece, Gina Narang, confirmed his death in a statement on behalf of the family, which said the family also sought privacy during his passing.
