- Alana’s parents moved to Victoria from Chennai in the late 1980s.
- Alana started playing tennis at the age of five and wanted to pursue a career in tennis, but because of her father and brother who also played cricket, she started playing cricket later. She also played other sports like softball and baseball.
- Alana also served as a ball kid during the women’s singles final of the 2011 Australian Open.
- Alana was born in Clarinda, Melbourne and grew up playing cricket mostly with the boys.
- Alana once shared an incident in an interview where she said that she and her family both faced racism in the past. Her father, Leroy, was a young immigrant in Melbourne, and one of the most terrifying experiences was when the police pulled him up at gunpoint due to his dark hair and beard. However, it later turned out to be a case of mistaken identity.

- In 2012, Alana won her first rookie contract at the age of 16 with VicSpirit in the Women’s National Cricket League.

- Alana was the second-highest wicket-taker for Australia during the successful 2022 World Cup campaign. She picked up 12 wickets in the tournament in nine matches including a spell of 3 for 64 against England in the final match.

I think every athlete has to (have a futuristic approach) because sports is not going to be there forever. Although we’d love it to be, realistically it’s going to be there for a short amount of your life so you got to be prepared and plan for that next phase and hopefully it’s a lot later than you expect. As long as you have got a plan in place, I think that is something that matters.”
