Debesh Pati was arrested from Jajpur on the evening of 2 November 2023 on the charges of rape, harassment, molestation, mental and physical torture, blackmail, and fraud. Allegedly, in 2021, Debesh met a girl from Bhadrak with whom he later got into a relationship. The girl alleged that Debesh made promises of marriage to her and got into physical intimacy. When she got pregnant, Debesh forcibly fed her pills which resulted in the end of her pregnancy. Two police cases were registered by the girl against Debesh, one in Nayapalli police station, numbered 103/2023, in Bhubaneswar and another in Bhadrak. He also took some obscene photos, made intimate videos, and later threatened to make them viral if she told public about it. She alleged that he later refused to marry her and refused to return back Rs 5 lakh which he had taken from her during the course of their affair. Satyaranjan Pradhan, Inspector in charge of Nayapalli police station informed the media about the sections of the FIR and said,

"Following the directions of a local court, a case has been registered against the singer under various sections of the IPC including 376 (2) (n) and IT Act. He was arrested on Thursday evening and later forwarded to the court."

Pradhan said that they arrested Debesh on the basis of their WhatsApp chats and money transfer details. His family members alleged that this was a conspiracy to defame Debesh. [3]Outlook
