Some Lesser Known Facts About Anal Arasu

• Anal Arasu was born in Chennai, Tamil Nadu.

• His birthname was C.M. Arasakumar; however, later he became known professionally as Anal Arasu/Anl Arasu and built his career as a stunt co-ordinator and action choreographer.

• From a young age, he became interested in stunts because his father, C.M. Arasu, was also associated with the film industry and stunt work. In an interview, he shared that watching his father influenced him and made hi want to become an action man.

• Before becoming an independent stunt choreographer Anal Arasu worked as an extra fighter and assistant to several experienced stunt masters.

• During his early stuntman career he worked renowned stunt men, including Rambi Rajkumar, Judo. K. K. Rathnam, Vikram Dharma, Jaguar Thangam, Kanal Kannan, Stun Siva, and Peter Hein.

• In 2004, Anal made his independent debut as a stunt choreographer with the Tamil Film Chatrapathy.

• In the mid 2000s, he worked on Malayalam films such as The Tiger, Chotta Mumbai, Big B, and Sagar Alias Jacky: Reloaded. These projects helped establish him outside the Tamil industry and worked in Malayalam, Telugu, and Hindi films.

• In 2010, Anal Arasu worked on film Singam. The film became one of the important commercial action films in his career.

• In the same year, Arasu received the Ananda Vikatan Cinema Award for Best Stunt Choreography for his work in Naan Mahaan Alla.

• In 2011, he worked on Rowthiram and received another Ananda Vikatan Cinema Award for his stunt choreography.

• In the same year, he began working with director Prabhu Deva on Vedi. He later collaborated with Prabhu Deva again on a Hindi action film Rowdy Rathore (2012). His work in Rowdy Rathore gave him an important opportunity in mainstream Hindi cinema.

• In 2016, Arasu worked on Salman Khan‘s Sultan. For the film, he handled the mud-pit wrestling action, while other international and Indian stunt specialists handled different portion of the film’s action.

• In 2017, he continued working across industries and was associated with major projects including actor Vijay starrer, Mersal. His work in the film earned him recognition at the V4 MGR Sivaji Academy Awards.

• In 2023, he became six action directors/stunt choreographers including Spiro Razatos, Yannick Ben, Craig Macrae, Kecha Khamphakdee, and Sunil Rodrigues for Shah Rukh khan’s starrer film, Jawan.

• In the same year, Anal made his directional debut with the Malayalam-language romantic horror film, Phoenix.

• In July 2026, Arasu won his first National Film Award for the Tamil film Maharaja (2024).
