Controversies• Unusual dismissal of AIIMS director
Anbumani Ramadoss, the Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare, fired Dr. P. Venugopal, the director of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), a leading cardiologist in the nation, in 2006. He claimed that Dr P. Venugopal had disregarded the government employee code of conduct. Even before the government-appointed commission had a chance to investigate and make a decision, Dr. P. Venugopal was dismissed. • Arrest for hate speech
Anbumani Ramadoss was taken into custody in Chennai by the Kancheepuram police in May 2013 regarding a previous incident. In 2012, a hate speech case was filed against him, for which he was later charged. Ten Dalit homes in Marakannam are said to have been set on fire by the PMK cadre on 25 April 2012. Anbumani Ramadoss and four other individuals were charged in 2014 with violating their position of authority and favouring Rohilkhand Medical College and Hospital (RMCH) by extending admissions to the MBBS programme for the academic year 2008–09.   • Anbumani Ramadoss took an “Introductory Macroeconomics” course at the London School of Economics (L.S.E.) in 2003.
  • After his graduation, he worked as a doctor in a government hospital in the small village of Nallalamm, which is close to Tindivanam. After working as a medical practitioner for a year and a half, he resigned.
  • Under the direction of Anbumani Ramdoss, the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) was founded in 2005 as a sub-mission of the National Health Mission (NHM). Its goal was to increase people’s access to and availability of high-quality healthcare, particularly for the poor, women, children, and those living in rural areas.
