Controversies• He has been convicted by the special CBI court and later arrested in the "Fodder Scam" of 1996, which involved an amount of 9.50 billion (INR).

According to the CBI, when Mr. Prasad was minister of railways between 2004 and 2009, alleged appointments were made in exchange for land parcels gifted or sold to his family.
