Some Lesser Known Facts About Deeya Yadav

  • In 2017, Deeya Yadav started practising cricket after watching the Women’s World Cup final. She said to her parents that she wanted to help Team India win the trophy one day.

  • During this time, her father, Rakesh Yadav, worked as an IT professional in Pune and used to play U-19 cricket for the Delhi Cricket Association.

  • He enrolled Deeya Yadav in a cricket academy in Pune. After that, her love for cricket grew stronger there.

  • During the COVID-19 pandemic, her family shifted to Gurugram from Pune so that she could train with the Haryana Cricket Association.

  • In 2023, she played in the U-15 One-Day Trophy organised at B S P Cricket Stadium, Bhilai, Chhattisgarh, where she scored a total of 578 runs with an average of 96.33. She made three centuries in the tournament.
  • During these tournaments, Deeya Yadav scored 213 runs off 125 balls against the Tripura women’s cricket team. This double century was a record and rare in women’s age-group cricket.

  • Once, during a media conversation, Deeya Yadav shared that her cricket journey started in 2020. She said,

    My serious cricket started in 2020. I made my U15 debut in 2023 and we won the tournament. After that, HCA supported me across all age groups. I eventually made it to the senior team, and under Shafali didi we also won the U-23 trophy.”

  • In the 2025-26 domestic T20 season, she played for Haryana Cricket Association and scored 298 runs in eight innings. Her batting average was 59.50, and her strike rate was 128.
  • In December 2025, Deeya Yadav made headlines when she made history after she was selected in the 2025 Women’s Premier League (WPL) auction.

  • She became the youngest player to be bought in the WPL.
