- Hamam al-Hammami was born in the United Arab Emirates and raised in Oman. He holds Omani Citizenship. His father is an Omani and his mother is a Syrian.
- During his younger age, he spent several years in the UAE and later studied in different countries, including Australia, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom.
- In 2014, he obtained an Australian syudent Visa and moved to Australia, where he enrolled in an engineering course at RMIT University University in Melbourne Australia; however, he did not complete the course.
- Then he moved back to Oman and in 2018, Hamam al-Hammami began his aviation career with Oman Airline. He spent about seven years with the Oman Airline.
- During his time at Oman Airline, he trained to become a commercial pilot. Later he worked towards becoming a co-pilot.

- On 30 September 2026, Hamam al-Hammam was the co-pilot of Flydubai Flight FZ1073, travelling from Dubai to Tel Aviv. During the flight, he allegedly attacked Captain Smit Machchhar in the cockpit and attempted to take control of the aircraft.
- During the incident, the aircraft about 17,000 feet of altitude before passengers and crew intervened. Captain Machchar managed to open the cockpit door, allowing passengers and crew members to enter and stop al-Hammami.
- After the passengers restrained him, other pilots who was travelling on the aircraft helped take control of the plane. The aircraft then made an emergency landing at Tabuk in north-western Saudi Arabia.
- After the emergency landing of the flight, Saudi authorities detained Hamam al-Hammami and took Smit and him for medical treatment. They were later transferred to the UAE, where the investigation of the incident started.
- In October 2026, according to some reports Oman had previously stopped him from flying because of concerns about his alleged extremist views. Investigators later looked into how he was able to join Flydubai as a co-pilot.
