Though his elder brother is a businessman, he also writes and Hussain always gets his writing checked by him.
The film with which he made his breakthrough as an actor in the Hindi film industry was directed by Srinivas Sunderrajan, who was his senior in the college. So Hussain said yes to anything and everything his director told him to do.
He came to the filming industry, with the thought of becoming an actor, but fate made him what he is today, a dialogue writer. It was those three scenes that Hussain wrote as an audition for Ayan Mukherji, which got him his first project ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani.’ His promising work fetched him Star Guild Award for Best Dialogue in 2014.
Apart from playing a stammering stand-up comedian ‘Rishi’ in the Nescafe commercial advertisement in 2014, he has been featured in Vodafone’s Diwali Campaign ad, a number of Airtel’s ads, Hindustan Times, and a sanitary napkin ad.
Hussain wrote dialogues for Abhishek Varman’s film ‘2 States’ based on the Chetan Bhagat‘s 2009 novel of the same name. The film, produced by Karan Johar, starred Alia Bhatt and Arjun Kapoor in the lead.
