  • Though Bashir began singing at a very young age, his professional training in music started when he was 19. His father, who was a Qawal, gave him the exposure of singing. He took his classical vocal training from his uncle.
  • Bashir’s parents and grandparents were from Jalandhar, India and moved to Lahore, Pakistan after the partition in 1947. He considers India to be his second home and says ‘Politics should be there for just one cause, and that is, Welfare of Public,’ and that ‘Politics should not be linked with music.’
  • Not just in Pakistan, he has become a regular pick of the music composers in India as well.
  • His first Bollywood nomination was in Mirchi Music Awards in the category of Upcoming Male Vocalist of the year 2012 for the song ‘Tera Naam Japdi Phiran’ from the film Cocktail.
