Some Lesser Known Facts About Jun Ji-hyun

  • Wang Ji-hyun was born in a middle-class South Korean family.
  • In 1997, at age 16, she started modelling for Ecole Magazine after being encouraged by friends and her mother.
  • She debuted as an actress in 1998 and adopted the stage name Jun Ji-hyun. In 1999, she appeared in the drama Happy Together and made her film debut in White Valentine.
  • Her Samsung My Jet Printer commercial became popular the same year. In 2000, she starred in the film Il Mare, later remade in Hollywood as The Lake House.
  • In 2001, Jun starred in My Sassy Girl, which became the highest-grossing Korean comedy film.
  • She won the Best Actress award at the Grand Bell Awards in 2002. She acted in The Uninvited in 2003 and Windstruck in 2004.
  • In 2005, she was ranked among Korea’s top ten most bankable stars in a producers’ survey. She acted in Daisy in 2006, which was filmed entirely in the Netherlands.
  • The same year, she announced her Hollywood debut project Blood: The Last Vampire and, along with six actors, sued Screen magazine for unauthorised photo usage.
